This book offers a blend of theory and practice in guiding readers to apply design thinking principles to solving some of our world’s biggest problems. At the same time, readers are encouraged to become aware of new and emerging technologies that make prototyping and applying solutions a reality.

This Guide is meant to be the handbook for using Pressbooks effectively to produce books. Pressbooks is a simple tool, but it’s powerful too, and harnessing that power requires some learning.

This Guide should cover the basics of Pressbooks, including how to quickly get a book into Pressbooks and out the other end as a beautifully designed PDF (for print) or ebook (MOBI for Kindle, or EPUB for Apple, Kobo, Nook and others).

You will also find here resources for various features or special formatting, including how to place images, create footnotes, or put in pullquotes.

Your Anatomy Companion is an online free to use interactive tutorial which covers three major anatomical regions of the musculoskeletal system:
1. The Upper Limb
2. The Lower Limb
3. The Axial Region

Designed for medicine, nursing and allied healthcare professional students.

Open education is at a critical juncture. It has moved on from its northern roots and is increasingly being challenged from its own periphery. At the same time, it finds itself marginalised and under threat in an educational sector infiltrated by corporate interests. However, rather than bunkering down, becoming blinkered or even complacent, the editors of this volume believe that the voices from the periphery should be amplified. This book represents a starting point towards curating and centering marginal voices and non-dominant epistemic stances in open education, an attempt at critical pluriversalism. It is a curated collection of 38 blog posts, lectures, talks, articles, and other informal works contributed by 43 diverse authors/co-authors and published since 2013. Each of these contributions offers a perspective on open education that can be considered marginal and that challenges the dominant hegemony.

The goal of the Accessibility Toolkit – 2nd Edition is to provide resources for each content creator, instructional designer, educational technologist, librarian, administrator, and teaching assistant to create a truly open textbook—one that is free and accessible for all students.

This second edition has built upon, and improved, the original toolkit—a collaboration between BCcampus, Camosun College, and CAPER-BC—with a new “Accessibility Statements” chapter, bibliography and list of links by chapter for print users in the back matter, updated information, and corrections to content, style and layout.

The French translation of the first edition of the Accessibility Toolkit—La Trousse d’outils d’accessibilité —is still available. In time, a French translation of this second edition will be made available.

This guide is for faculty authors, librarians, project managers and others who are involved in the production of open textbooks in higher education and K-12. It includes a checklist for getting started, publishing program case studies, textbook organization and elements, writing resources and an overview of useful tools.

Together we can create a flexible resource to support open textbook creation in a variety of contexts.

This starter kit has been created to provide instructors with an introduction to the use and creation of open educational resources (OER). The text is broken into five sections: Getting Started, Copyright, Finding OER, Teaching with OER, and Creating OER. Each chapter is accompanied with learning objectives and most chapters feature interactive elements and opportunities for readers to engage with the text. Although some chapters contain more advanced content, the starter kit is primarily intended for users who are entirely new to Open Education.

A handbook for faculty interested in practicing open pedagogy by involving students in the making of open textbooks, ancillary materials, or other Open Educational Resources. This is a first edition, compiled by Rebus Community, and we welcome feedback and ideas to expand the text.

Modifying an Open Textbook: What You Need to Know focuses on the technological aspects of editing open textbooks found in the Open Textbook Library or elsewhere, and will help you assess the effort, expertise, and technical tools needed. In addition, this guide includes step-by-step instructions for importing and editing common open textbook file and platform types. Finally, this guide provides a basic overview of accessibility considerations and general guidance on where to find additional help.
