Special note on Generative Artificial Intelligence

Please make sure to familiarise yourself with the  Academic Integrity Policy and particularly pay attention to the following two examples of misconduct:

“Submitting work as your own for assessment, which has, in fact, been done in whole or in part by someone else or submitting work which has been created artificially, e.g., by a machine or through artificial intelligence”

AND/OR

“Submitting all or part of an assessment item which has been produced using artificial intelligence (e.g. Google Translate or other machine translation services/software, generative AI, etc.) and claiming it as your own work.”

There may be occasions when it may be appropriate to use GenAI in a very limited or bounded instance but such instances should be discussed with your lecturer in advance. Generally, it is wholly inappropriate for students to use GenAI for any aspect of an assignment.

The key part of the policy is that you must submit your own work for assessment, and not present material generated by GenAI as your own.

Most of your lecturers have been working with editing and/or writing for decades. It’s very easy for us to detect GenAI.
