Dear students,

Whether you’re just beginning your journey with us or entering your final year, we’re delighted to welcome you to another exciting year in our Global Media programme. As you progress through your studies, you’ll continue to engage critically and creatively with media and communication.

For our first-year students: You’re about to start a journey that will challenge your perspectives and open new horizons in our interconnected and complex world of media and communication. Introduce yourself to the person next to you at the lecture. You might be making a friend for life!

For our second-year students: Get ready to build upon your existing knowledge, take a deeper dive into complex media theories, and start applying those theories to practical projects.

For our Erasmus/placement students: Do your best to enjoy the possibilities and potential that will open up this year. This is a life-changing year for many in college when the abstract becomes real!

For our final year students: This is your opportunity to synthesise all you’ve learned and create portfolio work for your life after graduation.

Regardless of your year, you’ll continue to:

• Explore the cultural, political, and aesthetic impacts of media and digital technologies on our interconnected world.
• Examine how media and communication technologies drive globalisation and shape our social, political, economic, and cultural landscapes.
• Investigate the ongoing transformation of information exchange in the digital age.
• Analyse how media influences our work, worldviews, and relationships between nations and communities.

As Global Media students, you’re at the forefront of understanding and interpreting the rapidly evolving media landscape. Each year brings new developments in technology and global communication, making your studies more relevant than ever.

We’re excited to guide you through another year of discovery, critical thinking, and creative communication. Whether you’re laying the foundation of your media studies, expanding your knowledge, or preparing to launch your career, this programme will continue to challenge and inspire you.
